X Forward

Bio.

X Forward is a development shop manned by me, Brett Duncavage. I like to think of myself as a true Code Monkey, always striving to improve and expand my skills, all the while looking for my next big challenge. My resume.

About Brett

So where did all of this passion an knowledge come from? Let’s take a quick stroll down memory lane.

I became obsessed with computing in the 1980’s when a TI 99-4A made its way into my home and I wrote my first program in BASIC. I was hooked, plain and simple. Writing code provided challenges and emotional payoffs that other activities simply couldn’t match. Since then, I have soaked up computing knowledge like a giant sponge (or a really big stack of napkins). I have been a systems analyst at Equifax (which was *more* boring than it sounds), worked my way up from a junior programmer to System Architect at 9 Squared (now Zed America) writing mobile applications, started a company with a couple of partners (Derek Balmer being one of them, who is an awesome designer BTW, just go to Hold Fast Creative and you’ll see) to make mobile applications as CTO, and now I am ready to wring out my sopping knowledge sponge into your project.

I love what I do, and it shows in my work. Coding gives me joy on many levels, as a means of income and a means of expression.

Fun facts.

BS in Computer Science (minor Mathematics) University of Denver 2003

Awarded the 2006 Qualcomm BREW Developer Award for RealTone JukeBox.

Knows the BREW, iPhone, and Celltop platforms intimately (Andriod is well on the way).

Knows the C, C++, Java, PHP, and Objective-C languages deeply.

Can solve a Rubik’s Cube in 2 minutes (I’ll get to the sub 1 minute mark someday).

Once ate a golf ball-sized portion of wasabi in one bite on the promise $23. He never received the funds.
